Best Way to Learn how to do Website Design?

What is the best way to learn how to do website design?

Building your own website definitely has a lot of advantages. Having your own website means that your visibility on the internet is ensured. And this is very important if you run your own business. Or it could also serve as your personal space on the web, which means you can place almost anything you like to share to others, including pictures, music, even posting about a new experience in your life, etc.

That’s why, nowadays, it’s a common trend for some people to have their own webspace on the internet. However, not all people are capable enough to actually build their own website.

So what’s the best way to learn? You just need to follow the basics, then expand from there.

The Basics

The most essential knowledge on building a website is that you need to learn the two basics of web design: HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), & CSS (Cascading Stylesheets). Without it, you really can’t build a website at all.

HTML forms the backbone of the entire web design process. Without it, there will be no website. The basics of HTML are easily learned throughout online and offline tutorials. Certain advanced features of HTML, however, can take some time to be mastered.

CSS, on the other hand, serves as a complement to HTML. It governs the more specialized aspects of the website, like cursor placement, icons, etc. In layman’s terms, it effects on how the website actually looks like. Without CSS, your website would just look plain and boring. Again, CSS can also learned through online and offline tutorials, though learning it could take a bit longer than in HTML. Preferably, it’s wiser to learn first the basics of HTML, before going on to it’s more advanced features, and eventually to CSS.

Or you can also start learning Flash to design some beautiful animations on your website. Finally, when you have ample knowledge in HTML, you can use that to take advantage of the technological advances that “Web 2.0” offers, like embedding videos, other animations, etc.

Practice, Patience & Determination

All of these knowledge needed for web design can’t be learned overnight. They must be learned step-by-step, and once you master the basics, it’s time you move on to more advanced features. There are many knowledge sources, online and offline, that you can use to help build your knowledge base, but the most important factor of this, is practice. Try to build your own website at home using any of the web design skills you learned, and once you mastered all of them; you can start developing presentable websites which caters to your personal preference.
